Project Sun Safe was born in Decatur, Alabama and expanded into the city of Hartselle and the surrounding area of Morgan County. The goal of this pilot program is to impact every single public school in Morgan County (city school systems included) and create a gold standard of sun safety excellence right here in our own community. Once we create this standard, we will branch out to help other communities and do the same.
There are 41 public schools in Morgan County and the greater Decatur area. The goal of Club 41 is to provide each school with a comprehensive sun safety program free of charge and present them with three lightweight, portable shade umbrellas in the color of their choice with a rolling storage basket for easy transport and storage anywhere on their campus.
Our fundraising goal for Club 41 is $15,000. This amount will completely cover the cost of sun safety programs and the portable umbrella setup described above for all 41 schools.
For your donation of $41, you will become an official member of Club 41 and a founding supporter of Project Sun Safe. All of our members will receive a Club 41 sticker for your car or coffee tumbler. We will randomly select other donors to receive additional swag, including one of those fabulous lightweight, portable umbrellas, Project Sun Safe t-shirts, totes, and more!
