a safer place under the sun!
Let's make (y)our community
a safer place under the sun!
Project Sun Safe was an idea born in Decatur, Alabama, when parents of elementary school students rallied behind the idea of preventing future skin cancer in their children.
Our vision is to bring free sun safety education programs to schools and community programs for kids, and to help them acquire shade where needed at no cost to them.
Sun exposure during childhood is one of the main risk factors of skin cancer in adulthood. Just one blistering sunburn during childhood can double a person's chance of developing melanoma. We want to help you learn how to be sun safe.
Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the US. More people are diagnosed with skin cancer than any other cancers combined. People of all skin colors and of all ages can be affected.
Through your generosity, Project Sun Safe is able to provide free sun safety resources and shade to schools at no cost to them. When you give to Project Sun Safe, you are donating to a charitable, non-profit organization.
